The arrest of Charlie Sheen:
He's a star in film and TV, the son of a famous actor but also a headliner in others way…for reports of alcohol and drug abuse, marital problems and charges of domestic violence.
Born Carlos Irwin Estevez, he followed in the footsteps of his father Martin Sheen, even down to assuming his father's adopted professional surname. (His brother Emilio Estevez has retained the real family fame.)
His earliest hits were in film, with credits in "Platoon"…
…"Young Guns", "Eight Men Out", "Major League"…
With the new millennium came new fame on TV in "Spin City" and "Two and a Half Men" in which he earned a bunch of Golden Globe and Emmy nominations.
Charlie was the highest paid actor on TV for a time, earning $1.8 million per episode of "Two and a Half Men".
Married three times with five children, Charlie accidentally shot a fiancé in January 1990. There were accusations of alcohol and drug abuse and threats of violence from his second wife, Denise Richards, before they divorced.
In December 2009, Sheen was arrested for assaulting his wife Brooke Mueller in Aspen Colorado. Released after posting $8500 bond, Sheen was charged with felony menacing along with third degree assault and criminal mischief and was sentenced to 30 days in drug rehab, 30 days of probation and 36 hours of anger management.
Finally, in October 2010, Sheen was taken from his suite at New York's Plaza Hotel for causing $7000 in damage. Police say he admitted to drinking and using cocaine. He was released after entering a hospital for observation.
