A lot of fans liked Lenny Dykstra and his hard-nosed style of play. But his tough guy personality also got him into plenty of trouble.

In 1991, he was driving drunk in Delaware when he crashed his car into a tree. Dykstra suffered broken ribs, a cheekbones and a broken collarbone in the wreck. His teammate Darren Daulton was also injured in the crash.

Dykstra was also accused of using steroids during his playing career.

Off the field, Dykstra managed a stock portfolio and managed several privately owned companies. He also tried to make quick profits by buying and flipping hockey star Wayne Gretsky's 17-million dollar estate, but couldn't close a deal. He owed 13-million dollars on the property at one point and was accused of stripping $51,000 worth on fixtures. It eventually sold in January, 2001.

By May of that year, "Nails" was sentenced to house arrest after a bankruptcy fraud indictment but then got picked up for drug possession and grand theft auto.
