Al was also the main play-by-play voice for "The Miracle on Ice" during the 1980 Olympics, when the U.S Hockey team upset Russia to win the Gold medal.
And for years, Al's captured the excitement of the NFL, first for ABC…
…and later for NBC sports, with sidekick Cris Collinsworth.
Married to the former Linda Stamaton in August 1966…
…the couple has two children together: Jennifer and Steven. Al's been honored with the Vin Scully Lifetime Achievement Award in Sports Broadcasting.
Al had one embarrassing infraction. In April 2013, he was arrested in Santa Monica and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after making an illegal U-turn. His blood alcohol was .08, the legal limit in California. After five hours, he was released.
